Privacy Policy

This website works like a guidebook, not a checkout. There is nothing to sign up for and no personal details are ever requested, because reading a page about free museums or pay-what-you-want walks in Sultanahmet is the whole transaction. You look up a walk, maybe follow a link to a guide's GuruWalk page, and that is the end of it. A site that sells nothing has very little reason to gather information about anyone who visits.

What Gets Measured

Analytics here stay anonymous and broad. The counts show which pages are read, a rough country, the kind of device used, and whether a GuruWalk link was clicked. That final detail matters most: when a reader moves from a page about Fener and Balat walks to a guide's GuruWalk page, the click suggests the page did its job. Email addresses, names, payment cards and travel documents are never kept, and no page here ever asks for them in the first place.

Cookies And Third Parties

Only a small number of cookies are involved, and not all of them are set by this site. The analytics tool leaves a few of its own. An embedded map showing where a Galata walk gathers, for example, is served by the map company, and anything that company places on your device falls under its policy. Embedded video behaves no differently. Nothing on these pages tracks you across the rest of the internet.

Every walk link points to the guide's own GuruWalk page. After you click, GuruWalk may place its own cookie so a booking can be attributed to this site, which is how the site earns its keep without adding a cent to what you tip or pay the guide. From that click onward, GuruWalk's terms apply rather than this site's. The disclosure page sets out the referral arrangement in plain language.

What Stays Private

Hosting

The site sits on a third-party host, as most do, and that host keeps ordinary server logs with IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. Those records keep the pages online. They are not used to profile readers, and nobody here looks through them to work out who read what, or which Istanbul walks a particular visitor compared.

Your Choices

Readers hold real options. An ad blocker or tracking protection stops the measurement script from loading, and every page still reads exactly the same with it gone. Turning JavaScript off costs only the mobile menu. Prefer no footprint at all? Each walk here can be found on GuruWalk directly, since every guide on this site runs their tour there, and the one Fener and Balat walk by Ismail Cinar sits on freetour.com instead.

Questions are welcome through the contact page. The disclosure details lay out plainly how this site earns and what independence means in practice.
